For those of us not lucky (or talented) enough to attend such events as the prestigious What Car? 2014 awards, we are forced to follow the proceeding from behind a laptop screen while glued to Twitter.
The award we’ve been most interested this year is the “Best Green car 2014”. If I was a betting man, my money would have been on Ford’s darling, the EcoBoost 1.0 Engine as equipped to the best selling car of 2013, the Ford Fiesta. It’s certainly a surprise that BMW baby EV i3 has secured this years award.
We have to applaud the i3 for its credentials. The tiny EV is capable of 0-62mph in 7.2sec while being able to squeeze 80 to 100 miles on a full charge. Its not a bad looker either.
EV’s have come a long way since GM’s “unicorn” EV1. The technology is still very much in it’s infancy and we look forward to seeing what the ever evolving EV technology brings us.
