Pretty disgusted with the whole thing really – I read somewhere someone said “Oh it’s nothing really, get real, they’re all doing it” Hmm, I don’t think so – Top VW management being arrested in USA and South Korea! Haven’t heard of any other vehicle manufacturer’s Top employees being arrested for actually cheating their customers?! As far as VWpostfix long-term EGR/DPF issues (apart from EGR failures caused by the fix) too soon to tell – No doubt any premature failure will *not* be due to the fix according to VW!
I Decided to have an EGR delete my Skoda Yeti has been running fine ever since the EGR valve fail after 30.000 miles never took my vehicle for the recall as new what’s would happened to my engine if VW interfere with it I would not let them anywhere near it thay can not fix the 2 litre TDi engine
I am extremely disappointed with VW. I have written to them several times. When I have received a reply, it feels like they are lying to me. Even now, 17 months after they said that they would be open honest and transparent, it still feels like they are lying to me personally.
But the EU and member states must take some of the blame. They mismanaged legislation of the industry for years. They gave manufacturers the message that they could get away with anything, and most if not all manufacturers took full advantage of the situation.
As a result, I don’t feel I can trust any of them. If there was a viable alternative, I would take it. But there’s not. We are stuck with the manufacturers and politicians we have and there is nothing we can do about it.
Hi! Vw performed the update in October while the car was in for another poblem, on my 2014 vw tiguan.2.0 4motion. Imediatley, I noticed a drop in mpg, and the car sometimes judders at lower revs. A few months later, the egr failed.
I cannot believe that VW are implementing the fix during general services without the knowledge of owners this is totally reckless and eventually this will results in a serious accident they have to stop the recall immediately
Like you guys I’m very surprised that the media isn’t doing more on the EGR failures post fix. We’re currently penning a new article to help rattle some cages. #dieselgate
`Took my 1.6 Golf on the 23/2/17 to Sinclair’s Bridgend where they done a free health check, which they emailed me,they said I had EGR faults prior to the update being done which I know it did not as I had the ECU read prior to taking the car there. Sunday 5th of March 3rd lane of the M4 EML light on it goes into limp mode. IT’S WRONG THEY KNOW THE UPDATE IS DAMAGING THE EGR.
i have a 2010 Fabia 1.6 diesel my EGR valve had to be replaced late last year. About 98000 miles, which i suppose was not too bad all things cosidered (how complicated the whole exhaust emission is on these engines). In all fairness the dealer rebated the cost of the part and only charged me labour. I have not had the “fix” done yet, and dont know whether i will by the sounds of all the problems attached to it
Car was fixed??? end of march within 2 weeks egr failed took car in for diagnostic check costing 60 pounds was then presented with a price of 1080 pounds to fix it.I feel ive been fixed too.
2012 jetta was serviced by vw two weeks later one injector went and then on holiday week later egr valve went recovered home from our holiday asked them not to do the emissions fix. car was not a problem before the service 557pounds for injector and quote 1200pounds for egr valve my last vw
Just started having problems with my 2015 VW Caddy van since i had the emissions fix in april, i only use van at weekends so not many miles done, phoned number on back of certificate and they say that i need to get a diagnostic check done first, phoned JCT600 van centre at sheffield who did the fix and they are avoiding calling me back after promises of that someone will call me.
Owned my 2011 VW Caddy Maxi (84K miles) for 20 months now, no problem whatsoever till I had the emissions fix in April ’17, 4 new injectors 2 months ago and now it looks like my EGR has just packed up ! So by the sounds of it that’s going to be another £700 on top of the £1500 for the injectors. Will not be buying VW again…
2013 Tiguan went in for free EGR replacement at 66k. They returned the car with a Xenon bulb out and quoted me £325 to fix. I got a trade in value of £8k from sales, I paid £26k 4 years ago and after getting the price down from £29k. That’s some serious depreciation.
VAG refuses to offer advice on how to mitigate the weaknesses of the engine emissions control systems after the emissions-cheat fix. No suggestions are forthcoming about how to drive the affected vehicle in a way which will prolong the lives of EGR and DPF components. Its support staff have obviously been coached on how to avoid discussing the issue as they are evasive and respond with denials.
The 23R7 emissions-cheat fix fiasco is a second dupe for VAG Diesel car owners. The emissions cheat was fraud pure and simple and VAG has consistently compounded its crime subsequently with further deceit and misinformation. Trust is a fragile commodity and once broken can rarely be repaired.
I have read that a cartel of the major German car manufacturers has been mutually co-operating in ‘management’ of avoidance of conformity with EU emissions control regulations. If true, this says much about German business integrity and helps one to see Brexit in a different and kinder light.
Post-script to my previous comments:-
How can a responsible vehicle manufacturer allow occupants of their products to be potentially put in great danger by the very real possibility of sudden and unexpected ‘limp mode’ such as, say, while overtaking on a single carrigeway road? This is the stuff of corporate manslaughter.
I have a VW Beetle 2013 TDI, 4 years old has done 39k. Owned for 2 years no problems, great to drive, thought was rock solid. I as many others as seems thought this fix was mandatory (now realise that it wasn’t) On MOT and service, fix was applied in February 17. I noticed a change with the feel of driving the car and fuel consumption but assumed at the time, that is must be ok, it wasn’t the same car to drive as before the fix, 9 months later driving around where I live, went to overtake a stopped bus randomly stopped not at a bus stop in the middle of the road! car goes into limp mode 20mph. I had my 14 year old daughter in the car and another car was coming towards me. I managed to just get past the bus but nevertheless was scary. I contacted VW and found letter received from them in July 17 which said that any problems after fix then to contact them which I did, car completely non-driveable and had to be towed to VW garage where found out today is EGR fail. I am totally put off VW and have lost faith in my car. Will be selling and will not be buying another VW. Think that VW disgustingly dishonest that it was likely known that the fix could potentially make your car dangerous to drive with the EGR fail.
The fix has wreaked my car, I was told by the dealership that it was needed and I would benefit from improved performance. NOT AT ALL, noisy engine, jumping into limp mode. Dreadful! Then they try and stick an £85 diagnostic charge on me just for taking a look.
Number one injector failed whilst driving home after staying in the Cotswolds near Coventry and had a replacement fitted for £366.
After this problem l do not trust the car any longer and will be replacing it after only covering 33,500 miles and 4 years old.
I own a audi 2.0 tdi and a seat ibiza 1.6crtdi both cars have suffered with the egr valve failure at 50,000 miles what a load of shit, audi has had dpf and egr valve deleted ,only problem is car becomes more noisier and smelly out of exhaust after delete, and both these vehicles have not had this voltswagen fix done.
i have a 1.6 skoda superb 16 plate engine management warning light came on as did airbag warning ,took it to skoda sunderland they said egr needs replacing plus pipewrk they want my vehicle for a full week 23,000 miles not sure to take it in 14/6/18
I have an Audi A3 done 75000 miles just spent £1000 on a new dpf then my egr failed Audi boston replaced the egr free of charge and supplied a car for me to use, they said that I should try to recoup my £1000 for dpf from Audi but no joy.
This is the 1st and last Audi I have purchased I am going to change it asap VW Audi are crap
Having had the emissions “fix” carried out on my MK6 Golf, the EGR valve then failed which VW replaced FOC as a “Goodwill Gesture”. Now the engine fan runs on almost every time the engine is switched off which is the DPF having to work overtime because of the extra soot generated.
I`ve asked VW to replace the DPF FOC now before it fails early due the higher demand on it. Watch this space!
2015 Caddy Black Edition purchased new from Motus Commercials, a VW Van Centre in Nottingham. Serviced by them religiously. Had Emissions update in 2017 at 6000 miles. 1st cylinder injector failed last week at 4 years 7 mnths and 8800 miles cost £810. Limp mode was scarily slow. VW UK have reluctantly coughed up 50% as a ‘good will’ gesture after I messaged them on FB. Low mileage on vehicle is due to the fact that we have two other cars. I always took the Caddy out on ‘regen’ runs of 30-45mins frequently. I too noticed that the fans were running on even after short journeys also strange vibration noises coming from the gearbox area which start and then stop like being switched. I am selling it tomorrow, lovely van, ruined. Good riddance VW. Before this incident happened I purchased an 2018 VW Transporter with 11000 miles for my stepsons business from the same dealer (actually their van). He had it a week before the EGR valve needed replacement. Never again VW. Overrated badged rubbish.
2014,Tiguan match. 61K on clock. Now needs new ERG valve. £1500………..
VW uk and VW Yeovil heritage do not want to know. Never never VWAgain.
